Updates to the Level 4 in Waste and Resource Management Qualification
25th October 2018
Following a recent qualification review, the Level 4 Certificate in Waste and Resource Management is changing the way it is structured. This will benefit you by creating a clear link to the operator competency qualifications and become a more relevant and efficient route to competence for those completing the qualification.
The updated qualification creates a clear link to operator competency and forms part of the scheme, but it also sees the addition of 2 new units covering metal recycling and end-of-life vehicles which have been proven as valuable content by WAMITAB.
Aimed primarily at those seeking to achieve a Technical Competent Manager status, but also suitable for new entrants to the industry who are keen to progress into a role in the waste and recycling industry. The content is delivered through a ‘taught and tested’ route with candidates able to choose from a range of optional units tailored to their specific site activity.
Other Key elements to changes in the qualification include:
- Language of the assessment criteria and learning outcomes has been altered in order to make it easier for the candidate to understand
- The content in each unit has been updated to provide additional explanations and pointers for the candidate when answering assessment questions
- The unit titles have been reduced in complexity to make them easier for the candidates to identify. These updated titles can be found through the WAMITAB website
Changes the Level 4 qualification will be crucial in supporting the sector to overcome significant skills gaps that have risen within the waste and recycling industry by bringing more qualified and knowledgeable candidates into the industry.
