VRQ Level 3 in Waste & Resource Management

(Four day programme)

The VRQ is an intensive classroom based course covering topics required by the Operator Competence Scheme in order to operate a low risk or medium risk waste or resource management facility. Serac UK is approved by WAMITAB to deliver this qualification. It is an alternative route to the statutory Level 4 QCF (formerly NVQ).

The course is run over 4 days (09.00 to 16.00). Learning material is delivered via Power Point presentations, group sessions, case studies and exercises.

For each unit learners will complete a written project. A proportion of the project will be based on an appropriate sustainable waste management facility (usually the learner’s site, existing or proposed).

Course Content

The Course covers the following 5 mandatory units

• Environmental Impact of Waste and Resource Management
• Waste & resource Management – Policy and Legislation
• Permitting Requirements and Compliance in the Waste and Resource Management Industry
• Health & Safety in the Waste and Resource Management Industry
• Technical Aspects of Managing Waste and Resource

In addition the Learner will choose one of the following Optional Units:

• Physical and Chemical Processing
• Biological Processing
• Thermal Treatment Processing
• Environmental Impact of Land Remediation Activities
• Inert Landfill
