IOSH Supervising Safely Course Aims

This IOSH Accredited Course has been designed and written by Serac UK and is designed to provide personnel with an increased awareness of Health & Safety issues, knowledge and skills required to supervise management health & safety in the Extractives Industry.

Learning Objectives of the IOSH Supervising Safely Course 

The course learning objectives are that by the end of the course the learner will:

  • Understand the role of the supervisor in managing safety
  • Have gained a working knowledgeof relevant health and safety legislation, with specific emphasis placed on the Quarry Regulations 1999
  • Have an understanding of the principles of accident causation and how accidents can be prevented
  • Be able to recognise and correct unsafe behaviour
  • Have an understanding of the meaning and the practical application of the terms, Risk Assessment, safe system of work, method statement and permit to work
  • Have an increased ability to recognise and categorise a range of common quarry hazards
  • Understand the requirements for and the principles and types of workplace inspections suitable for quarries
  • Be able to carry out simple risk assessments and identify risk control measures
