New aggregate washing plant for PJ Thory

PETERBOROUGH-based PJ Thory have invested in a new high-performance aggregate washing plant supplied by Aggregate Processing Solutions (APS).

Comprising of a CDE M2500 mobile washing system and an AggMax 83R log washer, the bespoke washing plant is already proving its worth, processing around 1,000 tonnes of aggregates a day (eg 10mm, 20mm, 40mm etc.), as well as concrete sand, for PJ Thory’s customer base across the region.

The investment in the state-of-the-art plant also further strengthens the company’s position as one of the region’s largest haulage and aggregate suppliers.

APS, the specialist washing arm of the Finlay Group, have a long association with PJ Thory stretching back to more than 20 years and have worked closely with the team to develop the new plant.

Jamie Thory, co-owner of PJ Thory, said: ‘We were looking for a long term, complete washing solution and this system is just that. It’s proved itself to be reliable and is washing material to the highest standard we’ve seen. As a company we gain great confidence and reassurance that we have the service back-up from APS.’

The CDE M2500 system provides feeding, screening, sand washing and stockpiling in one compact unit, producing four aggregate products and a single sand to the required specification. Working in conjunction with the M2500 unit, the AggMax 83R log washer system grades the aggregates to the correct concrete specification through high attrition scrubbing and final rinsing.

John Dunne, managing director of APS, said: ‘We’ve supplied PJ Thory with the highest quality equipment that’s the most up-to-date on the market. As requested, we installed a full turnkey operation to include a generator and all of the required pipe work for the water supply and silt return pumps.
