Effective Training Group

The Effective Training Group crosses a number of industry sectors – Waste Management & Recycling, Extractives, Building Products and Facilities Management. Its aim is to allow a range of professionals such as Training/HR Managers, Health & Safety Managers, and Operational Managers, and Operational Directors/Managers from these different sectors to meet so that they network and hear presentations on a range of issues including; training, development and competence.

Attendees have the benefit of cross fertilisation of ideas and best practice from these various sectors where often the issues are similar – why re-invent the wheel!

The agenda and topics are led by the attendees – there have been presentations to date by: HSE FTA Sector Skills Councils, National Apprentice Service, employers, training software suppliers and other training providers.

Attendees tell us that they like the fact that in one meeting they gain the information that normally would require attending a number of meetings. They also like that it is independent – from awarding bodies, trade bodies, regulators, SSC’s as well as not having any sector bias. Most of all they like the networking and sharing ideas/experiences with fellow professionals It is particularly suited to SME’s who often don’t have the opportunity to have their voice heard or attend these types of meetings to keep in touch.

Meetings are held bi-annually – normally in Central England – Usually 11.00-15.00 with a break for lunch to network with industry colleagues.

Serac sponsors, as well as other training providers and SSC’s, and provides the secretariat for this group.
